How the University of Huddersfield can help your business

The University of Huddersfield has a strong track record of working with businesses, both large and small in a variety of ways. Much of our research is business focussed and equips our academics well for business consultancy. Notable successes have been in the Nanotechnology, Manufacturing, Multimedia, Product Design, Structural Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and Thermal Studies.

In addition we can provide substantial business gains through activity in marketing, logistics, criminology and security and business management. We have a number of mechanisms for working with businesses from Knowledge Transfer Partnerships to research contracts and consultancy.

Some courses allow undergraduates to spend a year on placement with a business, bringing knowledge, skills and enthusiasm into your organisation at a cost-effective level.

Our graduate employment rate is among the highest in the region and the UK.

The Precision Technologies Centre for Industrial Collaboration offers a range of specialist services to a surprisingly wide range of industries such as biomedical, aerospace, automotive and general machinists where metrology and surface measurement are required.

New facilities include:

  • our microbiology testing service, which offers a broad and comprehensive service on biocide, biodegradation and bodeterioration testing to recognised standards, e.g. EN1276 and EN1500 to BS & EN standards and
  • IPOS, which specialises in the application of physical organic chemistry to process development and technology optimisation. Collaboration with local companies building on this expertise is helping to bring new innovative products to market.

We can offer similar collaborative development in other areas of the University.

Research units include nanotechnology and precision engineering, business ethics and environmental issues, child-care and development, criminology, assisted conception and infertility and mental and primary health care.

We can assist with short term projects or longer-term strategic advice.
